چکیده

We consider all the dimension 6 operators as well as some simple extensions of the standard model that give new contributions to neutrino interactions with matter. Such interactions are usually parametrized by αβ , where α and β are neutrino flavor indices taking the values e, μ and τ . In the simple models we consider the αβ ’s are much more constrained than in the operatorbased model-independent approach. Typically the αβ ’s are restricted to be smaller in magnitude than around 10−3. In some of the leptoquark models, a specific pattern for the leptoquark Yukawa couplings allows the diagonal element ττ to be as large as ∼ 0.1, or one of ee, μμ ∼ 0.01. We discuss the interplay between neutrino physics and leptoquark searches at the LHC.

Five-leg photon–neutrino interactions

In a first part, we justify the feasibility of substituting a photon leg by a neutrino current in the Euler–Heisenberg Lagrangian to obtain an effective Lagrangian for the process γν → γγν and its crossed reactions. We establish the link between these processes and the four-photon scattering in both the Standard Model and the effective theory. As an application, we compute in this effective the...

Bounding Effective Operators at the One-Loop Level: The Case of Four-Fermion Neutrino Interactions

The contributions of non-standard four-neutrino contact interactions to electroweak observables are considered at the one-loop level by using the effective quantum field theory. The analysis is done in terms of three unknown parameters: the strength of the non-standard neutrino interactions, F̃ , an additional derivative coupling needed to renormalize the divergent contributions that appear when...

An overview of neutrino-nucleus interactions is presented. After a brief discussion of theory and applications of detector response three examples are discussed: i) Recent work on neutrino-deuteron reactions, ii) Probing strangeness content of the nucleon with neutrinos, and iii) The role of neutrino reactions in supernova dynamics and r-process nucleosynthesis. Recent observations of solar 1),...

Nucleon effective masses within the Brueckner-Hartree-Fock theory: Impact on stellar neutrino emission

We calculate the effective masses of neutrons and protons in dense nuclear matter within the microscopic Brueckner-Hartree-Fock many-body theory and study the impact on the neutrino emissivity processes of neutron stars. We compare results based on different nucleon-nucleon potentials and nuclear three-body forces. Useful parametrizations of the numerical results are given. We find substantial ...

Beginnings of a Theory of General Database Completions

Ordinary logical implication is not enough for answering queries in a logic database, since especially negative information is only implicitly represented in the database state. Many database completions have been proposed to remedy this problem, but a clear understanding of their properties and differences is still needed. In this paper, a general framework is proposed for studying database co...
